Family Room & Kitchen in the old mansion

    Newer Older

Found on Wacahoota road just outside of Micanopy, Florida. No, I didn't make those names up.

Notice the old roofline near the top of the right smokestack.

Wow! I just ran by these this morning! I did my final run for my marathon on Saturday, and I always pass these on my run. There are always moaning cows in the background and two guard dogs! What a coincidence that I randomly stumble across these while I'm looking at photos of Gainesville.

      (a) Marathon. wow., (b) Cool that you even had the presence of mind to notice this while running. Thanks for the note.

Ah! I know exactly where that is... I used to live there! :) The old house burned down years ago, and the sweet family that lived there are cattle farmers. Three generations of farmers lived in that home... They lost everything in the fire. It happened during the day, and being out in the country help couldn't come fast enough. Now the remains stand as a reminder of the tragedy and God's strength and provision that enabled them to pick up the pieces and start over...

I don't know why, but every time I ran past this house I would hear the cows mooing unusually loud!
