World War II destroyed buildings, bridges and infrastructure. From the indiscriminate damage and killing the Japanese imposed on the people of the Philippines to drive the Filipinos to submission and drive out the Americans in 1941. To the horrible carnage of death and destruction as the Japanese resisted, to the death, the Americans driving them out in 1945. All this by two foreign warring nations on the land of the Philippines with little regard or care how many innocent civilians were killed or how much destruction to the city.
