X No Longer Marks The Spot (2) - 17 June 2012
Today, I continue my visual commentary on the state of Britain's high streets with this view from Fareham. Interestingly, in Fareham, High Street itself is of no great significance compared to the much longer and commercially oriented West Street of which this is part. Within sight of the current branch of Halifax and its distinctive exterior 'X', stands this vacant former branch at 109-111. It can be deduced from signs in the windows that it closed as long ago as 2008 and, from looking through the window, that it is currently used as some sort of storage. Is it in anybody's interests to leave properties in this state for this long?
