Peace be With You
To relax and get your mind off the stress of the day some people watch football. Others sew. Some might go for a walk. Others sleep. Or read a book.
Me personally, I can’t think of anything more relaxing/rewarding than driving around the Midwest during sunset in a rental car looking for random, dilapidated barns. I’m zooming in with google maps, routing places with my GPS, watching the sunlight, drinking my McDonald’s sweet tea (yes, it’s the best) and just going down dirt roads, small roads, looking over hedges looking for that wonderful barn as a foreground. Once in a while, I get lucky.
Another new way to relax at home is watching old episodes of The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. Never did know much about him, but found out he was a man with a passion and a dream of sharing what he knew with others, and for caring for animals. He lived a hard life in the military and spent years yelling at subordinate soldiers and said he had hoped some day to get out of that lifestyle and have a calmer, more relaxed one. His show shows this personality, and his painting are what I only dream of finding in real life.
