This is shot through the viewfinder of my Rebel XTi. I recently added a focus screen from Katz Eye Optics so that I could check the quality of the lens focus. The old focus screen doesn't tell you much more than that the camera tried to focus on something. I definitely like it a lot more than the original focus screen, but it does make the viewfinder very dim.
I also paid extra to get all the grid lines. I definitely have a problem with keeping my shots level. Even with the lines, I often end up with tilted shots.
The split prism and microprism collar are slightly visible in the middle of the frame. I could have highlighted them more by putting the lens wildly out of focus.
I had to bring out my old Sony DSC-W90 to make this shot. The viewfinder was so small that I could not see much with my much larger Canon A650 IS. The Sony was so small in comparison to either camera that it felt like a toy in my hands.
