Eristalinus: Night shots
Eristalinus sp. | Syrphidae
Here are some single exposure shots of a rather photogenic hover fly from the genus Eristalinus.
I was out at night with a flash light and found the flies resting on some pink/purple wild flowers where I had seen them feeding earlier in the day. I couldn't get a decent shot of them during the day since they were very active and quite skittish.
Micro-nikkor 105mm f/4 + Raynox MSN-202 (+25 diopter).
Lighting: Single SB-400 mounted on Manfrotto 819-1 hydrostatic arm, diffused through white plastic yoghurt container attached to the Raynox-lens. A small handheld aluminum reflector from behind
