Dreaming of Thunderstorms

    Newer Older

There haven't been as many spring thunderstorms here as normal, and many of the ones we have had have passed through after midnight.... Since I love to photograph storm clouds I'm left dreaming of them....

Even inverted in the reflections, it's an impressive cloud.

Stop dreaming John, some times those puffy clouds produce tornadoes...

It's two in the morning and there is rain and lightning outdoors right now.... I think the storms are just taunting me this year since most of them seem to be at night.... Earl, there are all kinds of stormchasers out there looking for tornados to photograph, right Matt. Thanks all for comments and favorites.

When I shot the image above, I was looking for a spot where I could get the clouds in the sky and the reflection in the water in one shot. But the storm was moving toward me and was just too big to get both the storm and reflection in one image. Here is a sky shot of the same storm taken a few minutes earlier from the other side of the pond:

Half a photographer? But surely, rather, the Eliot Porter of the Prairie. How's that book coming along?

Prairie photographers must visit mountains sometimes Captain.... book projects are best for the winter...
