Shell Cluster

    Newer Older

Aronson Island, Escanaba, MI. Those ladybugs were moving around. I don't know what kind of shells--are these zebra mussels?

      Whoa!
      That's great!
Well, not the zebra mussels. Those are bad.
      But the shot is awesome!

It's strange that they're all clumped together like that. Interesting picture!

Thank you! This was a fun shot to take as it was great to be on that beach and discover shells that I never had noticed before.

@greeneyesmilw : yes, it is strange--the cluster of shells caught my eyes.

@hey_mando : thank you. I've learned from your shots. Also Adam in the Cream City group gave me a quick lesson on the F stop settings on my camera in Bayview.

@llicht2000 : thanks for the ID on the zebra mussels. I don't know why they clustered like that. There were several up and down the beach.

@illustriousbean : thank you. I like ladybugs, so it was neat to see them crawl around doing whatever they would be doing on that cluster.

@smiley518 : yes, I am not sure why they cluster. They filter water, I think.

@sperophotography : thank you. Weird + Nice = that is a neat combination and a hallmark of many of the flickr photos I enjoy seeing from others, too.

I really like this one too. The ladybugs add that little extra to an already brilliant shot. Great job!

@hollywoodsnoopy : thank you. The details like the bugs are important, I'm learning that as I take photos.

Hey there - we're using this photo on Pandora's Locks: How Invasive Species got into the Great Lakes on Absolute Michigan. Thanks for adding to the Absolute Michigan pool.

I think that those bugs are actually Japanese ladybird beetles ... another invasive!

@farlane: thanks! Glad to see the article.
