Aristolochia californica—California pipevine. Host to the beautiful pipevine swallowtail butterfly (Batus philenor), whose larvae feeds on leaves. Pipevine swallowtail larvae feed on other Aristolochia species thoughout the New World, as well. Aristolochia californica is pollinated by yucky fungus gnats (Mycetophilidae) attracted to the plant by an unpleasant odor.
