working on the Park Hill I Love You Bridge
As I was walking home from town (ie Sheffield city centre) yesterday, I took a slightly different route to go in front of Park Hill flats rather than up Duke Street behind them, and I'm so glad that I did! I saw what seems to be some workmen adding some neon lighting to the grafitti which reads "I love you will U marry me?" on one of the high walkway bridges which link one block to another. I think it's brill as I would have been sad to see this particular bit of grafitti go, it's so innocent and hopeful, and no-one knows who wrote it, who it was aimed at, whether they got married and if they did, are they still together? Apparently there is going to be a programme on Radio 4 about it in the late summer.
The Radio 4 programme about the person who wrote this and who it was aimed at, was on today (and will be available all next week), link here: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01302s4
