A Man on a Train

    Newer Older

On the Skunk Train, on our way back to Fort Bragg.

We went to the only car on the train that was quiet.

I loved that this train car was possibly the oldest, and the man in front of me made the setting even more full of contrast.

I don't know the "Skunk Train." The car looks ancient.

It reminds me of a trip I took in the 1980's to a fairly rural part of New Jersey. A lot of the metalwork was covered in white enameling that was breaking off in chips leaving tell-tale black steel underneath. The upholstery was intact but tired and limp. There were electric fans installed above that oscillated in the muggy air.

This gives off a very Americana feel, sort of in the way all road stories seem to be Huckleberry Finn like.

      A great shot.

I really like the shallow depth of field used.
