    Too soon.

Do I like it? Tch, no.

Would I call it foolish or inappropriate? No, of course not. The attitude of the opposition is the exact stance artists of this kind lampoon. Also, this is quite different than a Nazi cartoon about Martin Luther - the Nazis were sincerely hateful. I doubt the artist is.
  • Joe D! PRO 6y

So (I just noticed this), david_d was talking about Martin Luther King in a Nazi cartoon:

    Nazi Political Party: 1919-1945
Martin Luther King got started with the Civil Rights Movement in 1955.

Nazis with time machines? I'm intrigued.

If, however, it was Martin Luther as MixedPhantoms suggests, then depicting him as a monkey is not only not racist, but just stupid and not worth mentioning.

Also, MixedPhantom, I totally dig Lincoln, which is why some of my best bills feature him. This was simply a pop culture reference (as most of my bills are) about a youtube video where some guy yells "Boom Headshot" that went viral a while back. Lincoln just seemed the most ironic.

i'm confused, did the Nazis have the time machine or Martin Luther King? In either case, whoever has it should NOT be using it to make cartoons!!
  • Arynn 6y

I see. :) I like it a little more now that you've explained it. I seem to remember that video..

If you tried to use this at a store would they accept it?
  • Tom Bielecki 5y

Pretty sure that they don't have to. Once bills are vandalized, I don't think they are legal tender.
  • Joe D! PRO 5y

As part of the project, I've spent all of these dollars to spread them around and keep the project legal (more on that later), and not once did I have any problems. Sure I've gotten a few odd looks, but no one has ever refused taking my money.

Two things to keep in mind though, I got in the habit of handing the cash in "tails" side up. Not to thwart the teller, mind you, but to make it extra surprising when somebody got it as change. The other thing is that technically, its only against the law to deface currency with the intent to take the money out of circulation. By keeping it in circulation the project stays legal, and by keeping it legal, there's arguably no reason refuse the bills on "vandalization" grounds.
