I like to shoot max resolution portraits of birds when possible, using the longest zoom in the telephoto lens. It helps to keep their faces large in the frame as well as to bring out the minute details of feathers etc. The original image is 10MB, and the head of the parrot alone will barely fit in the screen at 100% resolution, so it's too big to post :)
These are obviously composites of two shots, cropped to fit into a single image. The bird on the left is a Scarlet Macaw, and the blue and yellow macaw (poor guy didn't get any fancy names, obviously) is to the right.
