Carrick on Suir Search and rescue, one of their latest additions in transport.
The Carrick on Suir River Rescue group do incredible work all over the country. They do it without being paid, they do it without government funding, they do it without being afforded the co-operation they should from various authorities. It involves making unbelievable sacrifices concerning their own family lives and ultimately they do it knowing they are putting their lives at risk trying to save others.
River rescue is a long and proud tradition in the town of Carrick. For as many years as anybody can remember, fishermen have come together to conduct searches on the river whenever the need arose and they formally came together under the Carrick on Suir River Rescue name about forty years ago.
In a lot of cases those involved have had the love of the river and the ethic of serving the community handed down to them from father to son for generations.
