American Goldfinch

This tiny yellow bird is the American Goldfinch, a member of the finch family. Although they are ubiquitous at our feeders in the spring and summer, they do migrate to warmer climates in the winter. We always look forward to their return, as their bright yellow colours and cheery sounds make them a joy to see. An interesting fun fact - which I didn't know - is that this

finch is the state bird of New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington.
