Magic Kingdom has the iconic Cinderella's Castle
EPCOT has the geodesic sphere known as Spaceship Earth
Animal Kingdom has a 14-story man-made Tree of Life
Disney MGM Studios --or should I say Disney's Hollywood Studios-- has a ginormous hat, a classic Hollywood landmark, and an 'Earful [water] Tower'.
3 possible park icons depending on how you view each of these.
This is how I look at it: The monstrosity that is the giant sorcerer hat has been around since 2001 completely out of place where it stands and in general -- not to mention it is a glorified pin shop. The water tower known as the 'Earful Tower' is too out of place nowadays to be the park icon, however back when the backlot tour actually had some substance to it and was a must-see attraction the tower seemed like it was recognized more as the icon. That just leaves the above, a recreation of the Hollywood landmark Grauman's Chinese Theatre. This is what I feel is and should rightfully be the icon of this park again. Before the hat, visitors to the park would enter through the turnstiles and immediately see this theater awaiting them at the end of Hollywood Blvd. This theater was a perfect fit as the icon of the park. A classic Hollywood icon for a park dedicated to the golden age of Hollywood, as well as the Hollywood that never was—and always will be.
