Favorite - Sabino Canyon

The geology of Sabino Canyon consists of mostly granite and Catalina gneiss (pronounced "nice"). Geologist predict that the gneiss was formed over a billion years ago. Then, 45 million years ago, another layer came in and mixed with the old layer, creating the banded effect that can be seen today.
