First Stone

This is the "First Stone" ceremonily laid to start the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, the first railroad in the U.S. Master of Ceremonies at the Masonic ritual was Charles Carroll of Carrollton, last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence, who at age 90 said of his deed "I consider this act second in importance only to my having signed the Declaration of Independence; if even it be second to that".
