Ressaca no Rio [Surge Tide in Rio]

A ressaca hoje no Aterro do Flamengo. Pedras grandes que fazem (faziam!) parte do quebra-mar do Parque do Flamengo foram jogadas metros, danificando as pedras portuguesas ao lado do Porcão.

Ver Grande em Fundo Preto

After the rains and flooding that castigated Rio at the beginning of the week, it's now the turn of record surge tides to do their damage. Unheard of five meter high waves broke along the coastline over the past two days, and, because of the unusual angle of approach, entered the normally calm waters of Guanabara Bay. Huge stones that form the breakwater which protects Flamengo Park were thrown meters inland by the force of the waves.
