    Even though US40 highway still runs through tiny Weskan, Kansas, the Interstate headed west a county to the north has pulled travelers away from towns along this stretch of this route. That, coupled with 40 years of out-migration from the more remote portions of the high plains is moving towns like this on the road to extinction.

      Great old beautifully rusty relics! Nice to see a Dr. Pepper sign - there just aren't that many.

      Thanks Shari. These dying towns on the high plains are even more dramatically sad than in parts of the Midwest where trees tend to soften the landscape.
