I Dream In Color
Here is me having a little fun, "just for kicks".
A few nights ago, I was struggling with trying to figure out what I wanted to shoot. I had been getting great wave action shots for the last couple nights, and it just wasn't happening for me.
So I switched gears, went for the long exposure and zoomed into the most colorful part of the sky while focusing on the staircasing coastline.
The trick to all this color?
1) Using Photoshop's Smart Objects, I triple processed a single RAW file. Once at 5000 K for the cool blue ocean and twice at 6000 K for the sky with two different tints (-1 and +20) to get a warm and magenta color cast. These were then blended together using simple layer masks.
2) Really part of #1, I used Nikon's VIVID Picture Control through ACR.
3) I used a Vibrance mask to desaturate the blues for the water, but with an overall increase for the rest of the image.
