My New Pet Rocks - Davenport, California
I had pet rocks as a kid, something my preschool gave the students. Maybe it was some sort of test to teach us responsibility. "Try not to lose your rocks little Jimmy!", I can hear my teacher say.
I kept those pet rocks my entire life. Then I inherited a couple cats from a friend. I had to leave town for a couple weeks within a few days of this "inheritance". Although my good friend checked in on them while I was gone, cats left alone long enough tend to get a bit bored and eventually find things to keep themselves entertained.
When I returned from my travels, every plant had been dug up, and alas, my pet rocks, with me for nearly 30 years, were gone.
I still miss those pet rocks, but I can find solace in the ones in this photo.
They are my new, adoptive pet rocks, and I can't get enough of them. Anyone following my stream will probably instantly recognize them.
Pretty soon, I think I may have to give them names.
