This is Baby. He's a senior baby, 11 years old. We know his age because we first met him when our neighbor brought him home in 2010. She mentioned, "If you want kittens they have a bunch over there," motioning to a house across the street. We talked to them and found out they had a large colony in the backyard. Thus began our first large-scale TNR project which ended up netting over 20 cats and kittens with the help of @northbrooklyncats and Care for Cats, Inc. Most of the cats in our current #backyardcolony were originally from that project, and it ushered us into doing TNR on the regular. And it's all thanks to Baby. But now Baby needs help. Our neighbor contacted us last week because Baby had stopped eating and was losing weight. She had been to 2 vets but neither had been able to help without expensive diagnostic tests. She had depleted her funds and didn't know what to do. She was even asking if there were low-cost options for euthanasia. We offered to help and have had Baby for the past week. We've been giving him sub-q fluids and syringe feeding him to keep his strength up. He is starting to eat small amounts on his own but it's still not enough. He saw another vet this weekend and we did bloodwork. We're waiting to hear what the vet suggests but his tests indicate he may have pancreatitis. So we're continuing with the fluids and feeding for now. He's a good patient, takes his treatments well. We'll post an update once we know what we're dealing with. He may be older, but he should still have many years ahead of him. #catsofbushwick #blackcatsrule #seniorcat #felinepancreatitis instagr.am/p/CUqGF1kF7bv/
