Monarchs Return To Natural Bridges
While somewhat upstaged by an incredible whale watching experience on Sunday, the original intent of our Santa Cruz trip wasn't lost.

The Monarch butterflies have returned to Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz where this group winters.

It wasn't an overly warm or sunny day, so there wasn't a lot of Monarch activity. The butterflies remain huddled until it reaches 55 degrees (f).

We did, however, get a trace of activity as the sun came out.

They estimate 5000 butterflies are wintering at Natural Bridges this year - down from a range of 20,000 about 10 years ago.
