Milky Way Over Death Valley

    Newer Older

The arm of the Milky Way arcs over the Racetrack on a moonless night in Death Valley National Park, California

This panoramic is comprised of 11 images stitched together into one image. Taken under a new moon with little noise pollution it was possible to see the Milky Way with your naked eye. Always humbling to see.

I just released my first eBook titled "Photographing the 4th Dimension – Time" that covers 7 slow shutter techniques in detail. If curious about it you can find it at www.inspiredexposure.com/

      Excellent work Jim.
I personally don't like some overtextured images of the Milky way. This one is very natural.

This is terrific and really beautiful. I'm curious about your technique - what focal length was required to capture the curve of the Milky Way (to capture enough sky to get this image)? I've often shot with a 20mm for MW shots.
