DSC00521, Akershus Fortress, Oslo, Norway

Built around 1300, this medieval fortress and castle was built by King Hakon V. It is currently used during the summer for concerts, dances and theatrical productions. The Akershus Castle dates back to the 17th century, and was renovated into a Renaissance palace by Christian IV. Royal events are still conducted in the chapel and the tombs of King Hakon VII and Olav V are located beneath it.
