Tuscany (Toscana) June 2010

On the 1st of June (2010), we flew to Rome, rented a car, and in the small hours of June 2nd, arrived at our friend Diane Webb's house in Poderetto, near the slightly larger village of Elmo. Later that day, we celebrated Nancy's birthday with a meal in the nearby hill town of Pitigliano.
During the days that followed we often visited the town of Sorana and the village of Sovana.
These two weeks were a "working" vacation -- during most days Nancy was busy with a translation project while I was revising and updating my biography of Dorothy Day, "Love is the Measure." The third week was pure vacation, first visiting Siena:
