This flight to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Emirates flights from Glasgow to Dubai was the first time an Airbus A380 (the worlds largest airliner) has landed in Scotland. Flown by Captain Iain Weir originally from Clydebank. Captain Weir started his flying career at Glasgow Airport washing planes and doing admin for The West Of Scotland Flying Club in exchange for flying lessons. After more years of training he became a commercial pilot, for Glasgow Airport based airline Loganair. He was actually the co-pilot on the first Emirates flight out of Glasgow 10 years ago. In the 10 years these flight have carried 2.4million passengers and over 50million Kg. of freight, which has incuded 10million bottles of whisky worth around £200million in sales for Scots whisky, and a £32,000 Aston Martin Cygnet car.
