Looking at the Milky Way from Lick Observatory

This is actually a photoshop composite. This was shot in the daytime at the Lick Observatory. The telescope is a 36 inch refractor and it was the largest telescope in the world when it was completed more than 130 years ago. The Milky Way shot was inserted in the slit; it was taken by me on another date. The milky way is never that high in the sky at the Latitude of the Lick Observatory.
