B & Q sell an "Expamet Heavy Duty Angle Bracket Zinc 150 x 90 x 63mm" that is just the right size to support my rain gauge. (Don't worry about the cable tie, it's because the old gauge "lid" doesn't securely clip on to the newer base.) The centre hole is quite large, so I needed to cut and drill a piece of plastic to make a large "washer".
