Losee-Cooke House 1952

The home is located at 901 Second Street in this 1952 photo was built in 1865 by Civil War veteran Isaac Losee. His daughter Mary L. Cooke occupied the home for many years until her death in 1950 at the age of 95. She was a former teacher at Drum Hill school and was also a member of the Peekskill High School scholarship committee.

Upon her death, Mrs. Cooke left her home to The Field Library and the proceeds from its sale created the Memorial (now known as the Peekskill) Museum as well as an endowment fund of $10,500 that is still used today as The Mary L. Cooke Scholarship Fund.
