i quite like your work, Jessica Hische. In fact, I use the shit outta Buttermilk and would get it tattooed to myself if I wasn't so Jewish, but for real gurrrrrl why you gotta call band posters stupid? there are some geniuses making concert posters.
quite a few actually...would you really call any of these weirdos stupid?

It's just missing one thing. A bit of heart - the designers personality!

re: band posters. I literally meant "stupid band posters" ones that are dumb and gimmicky, not the giant plethora of really great band posters that are out there. our senses of good and bad are not very refined in college, harder to separate the brilliant from the "obvious ripoff" or "meaningless and annoying"

I'm glad you cleared up the band posters thing. I've been a member of gigposters.com for nine years, and I've seen plenty of horrible ones.

I think originality is rewarded in the fine art world, but in the commercial world it is not (even though everyone wants to believe otherwise). I actually feel that my professors did me a disservice by emphasizing originality. I would have been spared thousands of hours of creative anxiety if they had just said "just find two designs related to your project and do a mashup."

You should have drawn "writer" on part of the Art Director brain. Because every Art Director I've ever met thought they were a writer, and a photographer.
