The Grand Canyon

    Newer Older

The family took a day trip to the Grand Canyon yesterday. I was getting sick, but thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.
As the new year rang in, I took a look through my photography over the past year. It's been fun to see my style change... this trip however really showed me how much differently I look at photography now. For instance, about 50% of the pictures I took on the trip were of the canyon, and the other half were taken during the bus ride back to our car just for the heck of it. I took only about 60 or 70 shots the whole trip, and for the most part they were far in between. If I had taken this trip a year ago, I'm sure I would've taken upwards for 300 shots, 40% would be of the canyon, and the rest would have been macros of things I saw along the way, and I wouldn't have taken a single shot with a person anywhere near it. So in that sense, I'm glad to be where I am now (despite being discontent with my photographic skill level), considering where I came from.
Needless to say, I'm excited to see where this year takes me.

Love the mix of foreground elements, glinting lights on the glass , post-processed colours. Beautifully done.
