Back in college, when "Asteroids" and "Space Invaders" were cutting edge in computer graphics, I predicted that such things would lead to a general desensitizing of people to violence, and the use of video games to train soldiers. The desensitizing of people to violence is still bad, but the use of computer simulations to train the armed forces has actually turned out to be good, saving the lives of soldiers and helping them to be more accurate and reducing civilian deaths.
