New Zealand - Picton

Picton is on the northern tip of the southern island. This is where you'll arrive if you cross the Cook Strait by ferry from Wellington. The scenery is stunning because the trip will take you through Marlborough Sounds which is a mixture of peninsulas and islands.

The large commercial ferry harbor, Picton, is located at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound. It's also possible to fly from Wellington to Picton. That's a lot faster but not as beautiful as the three-hour crossing by Interislander ferry!
