Foo Fighters - Taking It In
Front man Dave Grohl during the Foo Fighters concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC, November 13th.
The Foo Fighters are one of my favorite bands. Apart from their music, they have a stage show that rivals any in the world. Their energy and their enthusiasm is so contagious because they're the only band I've seen that manages to convey just how awesome it is to be a bunch of rock gods. They don't take it for granted, they constantly show the fans how much love they have for us. And rather than edit their at-this-point extensive catalogue they just go ahead and play a 3 hour set. Band bang for the buck in rock.
I love this shot so much. It's in the middle of a song and Dave is just pausing for a moment to make eye contact with people in the crowd and smile. He's one of the biggest rock stars in the world playing Madison Square Fucking Garden but there's not a shred of routine about it. He's still got that look on his face that says "I can't believe this is my life" every time I've seen them.
If you ever have the opportunity to see them, don't miss it. It's inspiring beyond the music.
