Glacier Grizzly And Wolf Encounter Explored 8/ 29/12

    Newer Older

Glacier National Park is not known for wolf sightings, fact is it's rare. Kathy and I were lucky enough to be at the right place and right time to see not only three wolves but, their encounter with a Grizzly.

It was all about protecting a carcass the wolfs had first.
Because this was shot from nearly a half a mile away the photo details could be better.
It was amazing to see the wolves come at the bear in an all out run and how the bear first went into the nearby lake for protection only to come back to the carcass and stand his ground. In the end they all went their separate ways without injury.

DennisKirkland, Philip Kuntz, and 9 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Wow! What a great moment! I can't believe the wolves were that brave but I guess they had the numbers! Bears are so unpredictable and strong and fast I am just glad none of them got injured or killed.

Yup ! That's what happens here too.
The bears usually try to take the kill from the wolves, and usually succeed.
      Great action shot :)
