Sungem Light Bomber

A study of these Jedi-Starfighter panels, doors and other weird yellow things I had at hand. Generally I wanted to build light, compact bomber but with good weapon capacity and an armored look. Also, my first starfighter without "glass" cockpit.

Beautiful bomber. Looks liked it'd have a high capacity loadout. My only complaint is noted.

This is bloody sweet. The repetitive use of the panels is just fantastic and achieves such awesome shapes.

    Aha! Stylish.

    Amazing!

    Awesome!

Great! I love the paneled look that the doors and wings give it! That said, is there any way you can post a snapshot without the panels (As much as structurally possible, I guess)?
  • Ed Diment 4y

That's so Goddam sexy it hurts.

Chris "wunztwice" There is no magic inside, really :)

If you can imagine a 2x2 tower with 1x2-2x2 panels on its sides, to make a pillar studded from all sides, then it is pretty much it. The ship is very rigid, and in fact except binoculars wedged into holes, I did not use any particularly rare nor fragile connection. Every panel uses a plate with hinge to connect it to the structure, doors hang on their studs and stud holes and so on ;)

But if you *really* insist, I will see what can I do withot totally demolishing the poor thing.
That said... I wonder if a normal transparent cockpit canopy wouldn't be better - do you thing it is worth exploring? I would generally retain the cockpit as it is now, except the beam over minifig's head, and try to install one of smaller canopies there....

Way to go, man! That's one amazing ship!!
  • Catsy [CC] 4y

This is one of the best spaceships of its size class that I've seen in Lego.
  • [Maks] 4y

Bombers in yellow, fighters in red? :)
  • Jerac 4y

[Maks] Not really - "reds" have bombers, too - for example the Oryx as seen in Gdansk is in its bomber variant. Then there is much older Mjolnir and one prototype which was never shown in the web.

This one is yellow because it is supposed to be made by the same company which made this:

(yes, I DO write backstory for every starfighter I have. And full stats, to be used in freespace-based world :D)

Companies in Jerac's space empire? Very interesting :)

But this model is just amazing, so many clever solutions .

    fantastic!

Really great piece work - I like how the weapons seem to be just barely popping out, like teeth between a grin.
