White Bean and Ricotta Salad

Recipe from Donna Hay on Simone's Blog - junglefrog-cooking.com/donna-hay-styling-and-photography-... - naturally gluten free!

I made & styled this dish for Simone's Donna Hay styling & photography challenge. After trying to replicate the image in the original directions, I found I liked this angle better for how I had this set up.

Yes, that is a paper towel and ikea flatware and plate - the type of stuff we actually eat off of every day lol.. The more I try white dishes/backgrounds the more I am coming to realize it just really is not my style... Would've been great if I had like a picnic table type surface to put this on!!

Dunno how I feel about my harsh highlights. Didn't want the image to look too flat though - but then this was taken in diffused setting sunlight, if I try in the morning I can let more light in and get a softer environment. I also realized I cannot style something like this for the life of me, so y'all will have to forgive that bit :)

don't be to harsh to yourself!
It's a good try to what Simone wants us to do. Reminds me I need to do this too. hope I do not screw up the deadline *sigh* ...

you are right there are some harsh highlights in the upper part but also some quite dark spots in middle-lower part around the line of those 3 tomatos. seems like you have a lot of light coming from the back...

Thanks :) yeah the light is super directional, because I didnt' have enough tissue paper to cover up all of the harsh orange sunbeams pouring in! the morning will be better, I can open up more light to enter the room, and that will help soften things a bit :) Here the white bounce just wasn't enough...

It is REALLY difficult to style a salad. It really is. I'm going to give it a shot on Monday or so. But I really do like your entry. The colors really pop!
