The View from Van Slyke Castle

It would have been a very different view back in 1910 when the mansion was first built, although by the time the last resident died in 1940, the NYC skyline would have been already established with the Empire State and Chrysler buildings, with the remainder being all moderately low buildings.

This view of Manhattan looks from approximately 33rd St north. The cluster of super tall building in the center is an area referred to as "Billionaires Row" in the east 50's with the three slim buildings raising over the Empire State. The buildings at the far right peeking out from aside the mountain is the new Hudson Yards complex.

And yes, the image is over-processed to pull the skyline out of the haze
