Lunar Eclipse over Mono Lake

A lunar eclipse over Mono Lake, California. This is a composite of the full moon in its fully eclipsed dark red phase during a lunar eclipse, and the night sky over Mono Lake, including the trial of the eclipsed moon and stars.

The star trails curve two different ways from one side of the shot to the next because the shot was taken with a very wide 16mm equivalent lense, so it covered sky in both the north and south hemispheres as the earth rotated.
