Nisqually Nat'l Wildlife Refuge
This refuge is between Tacoma and Olympia, just off I-5, and is part of the Nisqually River delta.

A really nice new boardwalk opened there recently, it’s a mile long (!!!) and takes you way out over the estuary. Also a nice new visitor center. You can even borrow binoculars! And you’re almost guaranteed of seeing interesting birds, including herons, eagles, different types of hawks, and many non-mallard type ducks, some with very odd bills. A very peaceful and restorative place.
