Mahakali Caves - Andheri - Mumbai
Mahakali Caves at Mahakali Road at Andheri East in Mumbai - India. These caves have beautiful sculptures in them. Some say that Lord Buddha rested at this place for some time while some others say that the caves were built during the Mahabharata period. Whatever may be the truth, but once you visit this cave you realise that how old it is and you wonder how this place must have been thousands of years ago.
Till a few years ago it was in a state of neglect with drunkards making it their den and other shady activities going on in its precints but now it is completely restored and has been given heritage status.
