American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginous)

Had my very first sighting of an American Bittern this weekend at Abbott's Lagoon in beautiful Point Reyes, California. It was difficult to capture as it waded through deep foliage in search of small fish. Every now and then it would pop its head up and after many attempts, I managed to get this shot.
