Mejiro & Berries
Mejiro (Japanese White-Eye) Suigen Park, Toyota, Aichi, Japan
In 2009 I became a grand uncle for the first time, twice in one year. I'd like to dedicate this photo to my grand nieces: Isabella Grace born to my niece, Sarah and her husband, Eddie, on Feb. 19th. And also Nora Anne born Christmas Eve to my nephew, Brian and his wife Nancy!
Also I'd like to thank Makino-san. He saw me at Suigen Bashi and stopped to tell me about this spot in the park down the road. He'd seen some Japanese Grosbeaks (Asian finch) the previous day. We briefly saw them as we arrived, but they were scared off by someone walking by. Later in the day after Makino-san left I was able to see one. And thanks to Kimura-san I was able to get some good shots of various birds because he let me use his 600mm lens and 1.4 extender. Miura-san had arrived as well and he was helping me spot birds before Kimura-san arrived. It was a beautiful, warm day with little wind. We saw the Japanese White-Eyes, a Japanese Grosbeak, a Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker and a Daurian Redstart.
