My foster pups.
I went on a little bit of a crazy dog lady mission last week and pulled two beautiful doggies from a high kill rural shelter in Highlands County Florida.
Marshmallow, (who could be Abby's twin) and this boy. He had no name so I call him Asher because it means lucky, happy and blessed. It suits him :)
Marshmallow is staying with a wonderful family until he travels up to New Hampshire to his forever home. My friend's mother saw my plea to help on Facebook and fell in love. Asher is here with Abby and the crazy cats for two more weeks and then he goes to stay with the founder of Dunedin Doggie Rescue until he finds his permanent home. The rescue could only agree to take him on if I could offer temporary foster.
He was held over at the shelter past one deadline but would have been put to sleep the next morning if his sponsor, the rescue and myself didn't come together to help. This boy couldn't be sweeter or more willing to please and it absolutely breaks my heart to think that healthy... wonderful... animals like Asher are killed... every...single...day... simply because there is no place for them to go.
I'm grateful to the extraordinary group of people who spends HOURS AND HOURS of their time posting and crossposting and reposting these dogs in emails and on Facebook in hopes that the right person will find them.
If you are thinking of getting a pet... Adopt.
If you have animals... PLEASE spay /neuter them. There are too many in the world already.
If you are in a position to... look into fostering animals. Sometimes just a few days or weeks is the difference between life of death for an animal in need.
If you can't take an animal into your home, consider donating your money or your time to a local shelter or reputable rescue.
