Widow - Spider Month #11

When I found this spider I thought it was pretty interesting and noticed it had a red spot on its abdomen. I thought it looked a bit like a black widow, but I had never seen one before so thought it must be something else.

Some research online and I was convinced it was a Black Widow. It is a widow spider, but now I know it is a Brown Widow (Latrodectus geometricus) thanks to aw c'@n. It was probably a bit bigger than 1 inch, but even not knowing what it was, I was not interested in getting a better measure. It was found in South Texas at the corner of a door of an empty office building.

zxgirl and I are celebrating October by posting a spider each day. There are lots more to come. Don't forget to check out my Spiders set for all my spiders posted in the past including Spider Month.
