Voodoo Child B&W

The Jimi Hendrix bronze statue on the sidewalk on Broadway in bohemian Capital Hill. It was dedicated in 1997, and commissioned by Mike Malone, a real-estate developer. He was the founder of AEI Music Network, a music programming and distribution company with worldwide operations.

Seattleite Malone has a valuable guitar collection that includes Elvis Presley's first guitar that he used at Sun Studio and Hendrix's last guitar. Not only did he commission a bronze statue of Hendrix, he also similar commissioned one's of Presley, Chuck Berry and John Lennon - and all within a few blocks of each other.

All were by Seattle artist Daryl Smith. But the Hendrix statue is by far the most iconic and most photographed. It sits in front of a building Malone owns that houses Blick Art Materials at 1600 Broadway. Malone has his office at the adjoining The Broadway Building, which he also owns.
