As an optional step, I like to put a touch of solder at the very tip of the wire. You don't need much, and you shouldn't make contact for more than a second or so. Just enough to heat the solder (if the wire is tinned properly, then that should be enough, and no additional solder will need to be applied). Otherwise the insulation will melt and pull back from the wire. You also need to make sure that you get no solder past the crimping portion, or the crimp will not slide into the housing.
