Agave desmettiana 'Variegata' with numerous aerial bulbils on its flowering spike #1/2

This plant is monocarpic. It flowers only once towards the end of its life-span (10-15 years) and will die after flowering, but not before producing numerous bulbils which can be planted as new plants to perpetuate its presence.

More info on Dwarf Variegated Agave. Other common names are Variegated Smooth Agave or Variegated Smooth Century Plant.
